Summative assessment

A summative assessment is an assessment with the objective to establish what learning has taken place. It is, or contributes to, the concluding evidence that a candidate has indeed attained the intended learning outcomes. Summative assessment is also referred to as 'assessment of learning' (as opposed to formative assessment, which is referred to as assessment for learning).
